Well, maybe a somewhat pretentious title when a car holds the main role. My dream of a car started when I was thirteen; a MG TD sportscar. It took sixty years to fullfill that dream. Now I had lived that dream for five years, and it was time to let someone else take over the responsibility for such a gem. Last Sunday, at the large sports car meeting in Oslo, the switch took place. The image was taken on one of my trips to the north.

It is just past mid winter, but I have a feeling that the heaviest part of winter is still to come. The temperature has just dropped below zero (Oslo), but the days are already getting longer.
My MG TD 1953 model, is, as is normal with open sportscars in this country, well put away in an old and dry barn for the winter. When I talked to the owner of the little coffee shop situated in my building, he asked for my MG. I wanted to tell him this in a humorous, but simple way, an said that my car “was hibernating”. He did not understand what I meant. His background from Ethiopia did not include the word “hibernate”. I was going to tell him that that was what bears did during winter. Bears? Do they have bears in Africa? And if they had, there would be no reason for them to hibernate. So, instead of telling him in plain words that the car was stored away for the winter, I had to go through a long story about Norwegian bears, eating a lot of berries in the autumn, then finding a nice little cave to hide in, and then letting themselves snow in, and not waking up until spring and not eating or drinking or peeing or anything during winter months. (An interesting thing, by the way).
Anyway, it is nice awaiting spring and taking the MG TD out again. Meanwhile, I can look at all the images I have of the car.
Here is one.

Uprofft).

The Oslo chapter of the MG Club in Norway met Wednesday afternoon in fabulous summer weather (September 4th) at Rådhusplassen, The Town Hall plaza. A large majority were MGBs, in impressive condition. It is nice to see how the owners keep this classic car in superb fashion. There was one TD only, unfortunately I lost the cap of the radiator the other day, and cannot use my TD until I get a new cap from England. But the MGB GT of mine was in good shape, just cleaned, and that was one of only two GTs. You can spot it in the image having a roof with an opening.
I can use the TD six weeks more, then it goes into hibernation in a barn in the countryside, and the MGB GT will try out its first winter. In heavy snowfall and salt on the road, I shall tuck it in in the garage. Good I have something to tuck in (I miss the time when the children were small and I could tuck them in, especially when we spent Easter in cabins with only a wood stove for heat).

I visited my friend Ketil today, first and foremost to admire his very nice Volvo. Congratulations with the “new” car, Ketil!
The light on the narrow road beside his house also tempted me to take some images of my oldest car, the 1953 MG TD. I have been thinking about selling it next spring, but when I see this image, I don’t know. It is, in my opinion, a real gem…

Yesterday, April 19, the summer car came out after a long winter. It had been in storage in a barn since October. And it started! Not immediately, but after a few minutes the engine decided to get going. Not bad for the old thing. One of the first things I did was to check the oil, and to fill up. Today, Saturday, the sun was shining and the car ran down to Aker Brygge to show off! Very popular.
I think I will only use this MG TD in nice weather and for short trips around Oslo. The MGB GT will be my transport when going far north this summer. I am really looking forward to that also.
