Oslo, January 2017

Oslo today. A dull day with Scottish rain. No snow. No snow yet in this winter country! They tell us we shall have some snow tomorrow. That will be good for the children who want to be outdoor skiing and playing.
I took this picture in the Royal Garden when passing through on my way down town. I intended to take some pictures of the new Munch Museum that is being built. But my bad legs would not carry me all the way there. However, the weather was not very good for photography anyway…

Sauer på Røst i Lofoten.
Røst is a very flat island at the end of the Lofoten islands, north of the Polar Circle. The sheep will be outdoor most of the year, it can be windy out there, but not often much snow.

An old farmhouse

On one of my trips to the north of Norway I discovered the beautiful colours in this barn. I just had to make a stop…

Regn – ikke snø

Rain in Oslo.
The last we had of snow disappeared when the temperature in Oslo went up again. Back to grey and wet. Meanwhile I am scanning old negatives for a book about the part of Oslo where I grew up; Grünerløkka.

Spurvehauk i Oslo – Sparrow Hawk in Oslo

When I woke up one morning some years ago, I discovered a bird of prey sitting onn my balcony rail! I fetched my camera and managed this shot of the beautiful bird. It is known around here, and has got a name, the Hawk of the Palace Garden. It is a Sparrow Hawk, I believe, but I have only seen it hunt down pigeons.
I have never seen it on any other balcony here, I almost felt that it was posing for me, being interested in both birds and photography 🙂
