Trip to the north 8

The trip has come to an end, as I am now back in my home in Oslo. I did see puffins, but as in this image, most of their nesting holes were empty. When I lived there in the seventies, this would have been a very busy nesting place…

  1. Sad, but thanks for the photo. When we saw puffins in Nova Scotia last month, we were told that the colony had declined because more and more black-backed gulls were in residence, and they would reach into the burrows and haul out the baby puffins. Now the puffins are adapting by building their burrows on the cliff face where they can go too deep for the gulls.

  2. Very sad. Hope you had a great trip tho’… I enjoyed it, as always.
