A glimpse of History

Every weekend in the summer the tram company in Oslo run some of their old trams, for tourists and Norwegian, and it is free of charge. This is the kind of tram I always traveled with in my childhood and youth. I even remember the ticket price, it was 10 øre! I could not resist a ride today, when I spotted one down town. I left it in Grünerløkka, where I grew up, and took this picture.

  1. Stilig trikk…….

…….(og gaten er Thorvald Meyers gate ,-)

  2. Brings back memories of my childhood when I spent summers in New Orleans with my grandmother. Her house was on St. Charles Ave, and the streetcars would rumble by all day and night. The high French doors were always open to catch the sultry breeze, as there was no air conditioning in those days, so it was as if the streetcars were coming through the windows. I’m sure this produced some interesting dreams, though I can’t recall any. I LOVED IT!!! Linda

    • And I loved your description of the trams rumbling by! I could almost feel the heat and hear the sounds from the street.
