CISV – Chateau Fleuri 1964 (2)

chateau352wThe village site in France in 1964 was a very beautiful place. The old castle with its fountain and lawns was well suited for a CISV-camp. It is situated in a village called Sainte-Croix-de-Grandtonne, between Caen and Bayeux. The area is famous for its nice cheeses, like Camembert, Livarot and Pont L’Eveque, and since this is an apple district, also for its Cider and Calvados.

  1. I was there from the Dutch delegation. Had a great time!

  2. Some of us attended a reunion/seminar camp at Chateau Fleurie the following year and had a great time in this grand house! We had the same excursions that you mention + a champagne reception at the Mairie of Caen!

  3. Not to mention the Bayeux tapestry, which we went to see… Lovely photo, lovely memories. Thanks Raymond, Linda

    • I think for me, the D-day coast and the museums and the graveyards were the most interesting.
