Indoor at Krekke
Being indoor when it is very cold outside is very nice, especially with a burning stove that gives nice sounds and smells. And warmth. This image was taken at Krekke seter in the Easter of 1964, and shows the Swedish girl, Jenny Rinnan, reading by the light from the window. There was no electricity there, so sitting by the window was often necessary if you wanted to read or write. When it grew darker towards the evening, you would not lit the oil lamps until it was quite dark. In the transitional hour, in Norwegian called skumringstimen, it was time for doing nothing except that, watching the day grow into night.

How lovely! The feeling in this picture, with the light from the window bathing this charming young lady in a natural glow, reminds me of a Vermier painting. You see, you were already an artist so long ago… Linda
